Welcome to Spirit Kid Network!

We are busily working behind the scenes ready for the launch (within the next few weeks) and wanted to give you a sneak peek at what we’re up to, what we’re aiming for, and how you can get involved!

There is so much we’d love to share with you, but we’re allowing this to grow organically and over time, so for now we’ll try and give you an idea of the heart of SKN and why we’d love to have you on board…

So, what is it?

Well, quite simply, it’s an online community for anyone and everyone with an interest in spirituality and raising spiritually minded children who are confident in exploring and finding their own path in life.

We do not follow a specific religious tradition or creed, nor do we expect anyone else to. The aim of the network is to enable people from all walks of life to come together and build a community that recognises and celebrates our differences, as much as we celebrate those things that bind us together.

So, who is it for?

Well, it’s for parents like us, who wish to raise a child within a varied tradition so that one day he can choose his own path.

And it’s for the extended family, friends, caregivers, teachers and group leaders who all influence the lives of our children and wish to encourage them to explore life in all its glory so that they can make their own decisions on what matters most.

And it’s for the artists, musicians, and writers who inspire our children to see beyond the obvious and enter into worlds of imagination where anything is possible.

Finally, it’s for the shop owners and business leaders, who provide us with the resources that help us do all of the above.

So, how does it work?

Well, we’ve split the site into 2 main sections: the SKN Blog and the Blog Network.

We’ll be writing about our own thoughts on the SKN Blog, about how we’re integrating our own varied spirituality into our everyday lives and raising our son to find and follow his own path.

And we’ll be inviting other bloggers who write about spirituality in any way to join our Blog Network. We hope that this will enable bloggers to find others within this niche, so that we can build a community for support, inspiration and friendship. We’ll be following every blog within the network, to enable us to share the best content with you as and when we find it.

We have so many more hopes and dreams for Spirit Kid Network, but the heart of it will always be about finding and sharing great content from across the web, so that those with an interest in raising spiritual kids can find others to share their journey with.

But what do you mean by “Spiritual Kids”?

Well we’ve got a blog post lined up for you dedicated especially to this very question, and we’d love for you to come back and read it once we launch properly. For now, here is the essence of what we mean…

The way I see it, our children will learn from (and copy) our beliefs just as much as they do our actions, no matter what we do. Until they reach an age where they begin to question the bigger things in life, they will simply take what we tell them at face value.

For me, the most important gift we can give our children in this respect is the knowledge and understanding that what we do is a choice, something that we have decided to do because we believe in it, and that if they want to do things differently as they grow older then they can do. If our children have seen us confidently expressing our own beliefs whilst respecting those of others, we can hope that they will grow up with the confidence to do the same.

With this in mind, it no longer becomes an issue over what we teach our children but how we do it. We can include any number of spiritual practises into our everyday lives – prayer, meditation, yoga, church services, pagan moots, spiritual healing – the form doesn’t matter, so long as it means something to you. What does matter, however, is that you know why you do this, what benefit it brings to your life, and how you can share this with your child(ren).

So, what do you think? Do you want to be part of the conversation?

Why not register your blog or business with us today?

Or, if you’d rather wait and see what happens once we launch, follow us on Facebook or Twitter for updates.

We can’t wait!
